School Policies

Payment and Refunds

What is the school's policy regarding payment and refunds?

All course enrollments require pre-payment and are non-refundable.

In addition, Real Estate Institute is not responsible for any late fees, charges or other amounts incurred by students to licensing authorities or any other third parties.

Course tuition and any applicable fees are subject to change without notice.

In addition to the school's tuition, am I required to pay any fees when completing courses?

Our pricing includes no 'hidden' fees. However, some regulatory agencies require mandatory credit reporting fees to be paid upon course completion. We collect the required fees when you enroll in our courses. The fee amount is clearly stated at our website along with other course details. If the mandatory fees increase before you complete your course, you will be required to pay the additional amount upon course completion so that we may promptly report your credit hours to the regulatory agency.

Students may be required to pass a licensing examination (at an approved testing center) after successfully completing certain pre-license programs. Any related fees are paid directly to the appropriate exam provider and are not included in our course tuition.

Students may be required to pay fees when applying for or renewing a license. Any such fees are paid directly to the appropriate regulatory agency and are not included in our course tuition.

Course Expirations

Do course registrations expire?

All courses expire six months after the date of enrollment. In some cases, expired course enrollments may be extended for a fee. Please contact us for additional information.

Exceptions:
  • All NMLS-approved continuing education OSS courses will expire six months after the date of enrollment OR by January 2nd of the following year from purchase, whichever date comes first.
  • Due to a planned system migration in 2025, some courses may expire prior to the six month expiration date. Students will be notified if they will be impacted by this migration. Impacted students will have the ability to complete courses on our new platform, but may be required to start coursework from the beginning if not completed prior to migration date.

Course Transfers & Exchanges

Can I transfer my course registration to another student?

Students may transfer non-expired course enrollments to another student:

  • For online and correspondence programs, students may call and request a transfer before submitting coursework and/or examinations to the school for review and grading.
  • For classroom/webinar programs, students may call and request a transfer before attending the scheduled class/webinar. The transfer must be requested at least four business days in advance of the scheduled class.

Can I exchange my course for a different course?

Students may exchange non-expired course enrollments for other courses of equal or lesser value. When doing so, the student must return any course materials provided as part of the original enrollment. Materials must be returned to the school in "like new" condition. If the original course materials are not returned, the student may incur a fee.

  • For online and correspondence programs, students may call and request an exchange before submitting coursework and/or examinations to the school for review and grading.
  • For classroom/webinar programs, students may call and request an exchange before attending the scheduled class.

Students who do not arrive for class on time or who are unable to remain for the duration of a scheduled class will not receive credit. Students may reschedule for a later date, subject to availability. Rescheduling requests will be subject to a $20.00 fee.

Mortgage - NMLS-Approved Online, Instructor-Led Courses

Failure to log-in and complete required coursework on the first day of class - without contacting the school to reschedule - will result in the student being contacted by the instructor. The situation must be rectified immediately by completing all required work and catching up to the rest of the class. Failure to complete all required work by the end of the subsequent class day will result in the student being removed from the course without credit and no refunds will be provided.
  • Failure to Complete:  Students who begin the course on the assigned start date, but do not complete the required work at any point throughout the course, will be contacted by the instructor. The situation must be rectified immediately by completing all required work and catching up to the rest of the class. Failure to complete all required work by the end of the subsequent class day will result in the student being removed from the course without credit and no refunds will be provided. Failure to complete the final exam on the last day of class may result in total loss of credit with no refunds given.
  • Late Arrival:  Our online, instructor-led courses require students to complete a certain amount of coursework each calendar day, however the student may choose any time during the day that is convenient for them to complete their instruction and any exercises. There is no late-arrival policy for our online, instructor-led pre-license courses.
  • Early Departure:  NMLS requirements and therefore our online, instructor-led courses require students to complete a certain amount of coursework each calendar day, however the student may choose any time during the day that is convenient for them to complete their instruction and any exercises. There is no early-departure policy for our online, instructor-led pre-license courses.
