This approachable and easy-to-understand course is a comprehensive guide for Illinois real estate professionals who want to strengthen their residential property marketing skills.

The course is delivered in five modules, each focusing on different aspects of real estate marketing. Topics include essential topics such as creating effective marketing plans for residential properties, setting realistic seller expectations, preparing properties for the market, pricing strategies, and conducting open houses. Students will learn about various marketing strategies, both traditional and digital, such as using social media, websites, and the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), as well as crafting compelling property descriptions and utilizing SEO. The course also addresses legal considerations, including federal and Illinois-specific marketing regulations.

Students will:

  • Understand how to develop a robust marketing plan for a residential property. This includes learning to conduct a compelling listing presentation, utilizing the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), and leveraging digital marketing strategies such as SEO and social media to attract potential buyers.
  • Learn strategies to effectively meet seller expectations, such as setting a realistic time-to-sell and target price and managing common seller complaints.
  • Gain knowledge about the steps necessary to prepare a property for market, including conducting a thorough walkthrough, recommending repairs and upgrades, staging the property, and enhancing curb appeal.
  • Develop skills to suggest an appropriate listing price based on various factors, including the owner's wishes, market conditions, and desired time-to-sell.
  • Learn the procedures for successfully organizing and conducting open houses for both agents and the public. This includes understanding the benefits and drawbacks of open houses, the different types of open houses, and ensuring safety during such events.

After completing this course, you will be issued a Certificate of Completion and the corresponding course credit will be reported to the state.
